Recently Released County Health Rankings Show the Quality of Care in New Mexico

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute released the 2010 County Health Rankings. This collection of 50 reports reflects the overall health of counties in every state across the country. With this tool, counties can get a snapshot of how healthy their residents are by comparing their overall health and the factors that influence their health, with other counties in their state. Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Funds Local Organization for Health Information Exchange Study

LCF Reserach was awarded a three-year grant by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) to evaluate the impact of a health information exchange (HIE) in New Mexico. It is anticipated that the study will show HIE benefits for patients and participating providers by reducing duplicate diagnostic radiology exams and laboratory tests. The funding for this study is provided by the Aligning Forces for Quality: Development Fund, a special funding opportunity from RWJF for organizations within Aligning Forces for Quality (AF4Q) communities. Click here to read the news release and learn more about this study.

Two Albuquerque Hospitals Join Transforming Care at Bedside (TCAB) Collaborative

Lovelace Medical Center and Lovelace Westside Hospital were selected to participate in this national quality improvement collaborative.  The Transforming Care at the Bedside (TCAB) Collaborative is led by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) as part of their commitment to improving quality in specific regions across the United States. Albuquerque Coalition for Healthcare Quality Officially Launches Aligning Forces for Quality Initiative in Albuquerque

On September 29, 2009, the Albuquerque Coalition for Healthcare Quality and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) hosted a luncheon to officially launch Aligning Forces for Quality (AF4Q) in Albuquerque. More than 100 stakeholders from across the city attended this event. Dr. Michael Painter, senior program officer with RWJF, and Dr. Bruce Siegel, director of the AF4Q national program office at George Washington University, spoke about the significance of this initiative within Albuquerque and how this work will contribute to a national effort to lift health care quality. Dr. Angela Gallegos-Macias, a local physician, and her patient, Mr. Salomon Jojola, presented their experiences with quality improvement efforts and how one clinic’s innovative diabetic group visits have benefited both physicians and their patients.
